Shooting with a .22 rifle or pistol used to be the sign of transition between a shooter's childhood and his adolescence.
The .22 Long Rifle was the first true "firearm caliber” with which we began to appreciate the accuracy and technology of weapons.
For many now the .22 LR is a caliber that lives only thanks to Olympic sports, but in reality it is not so. The .22 Long Rifle and its heir, the .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire are still very much used - especially in the US and in the Anglo-Saxon countries - for recreational shooting and pest control. It is an accurate, cheap cartridge which is also very pleasant to shoot. And if the weapon is produced by Tikka, then there’s no doubt that the qualities of this small cartridge will be further enhanced.
At the SHOT Show the Finnish Company introduced the T1x chambered in .22 Long Rifle or .17 HMR, a rifle that fulfills all the requirements to fully enjoy the intrinsic accuracy of both cartridges.
TikkaT1x rimfire rifle: features
Available with a 15.7 in / 400 mm or 20 in / 510mm barrel and a 10-round magazine, the Tikka T1x has a very smooth stainless steel bolt, which slides in an action the same size as the T3x rifle and sharing the same bedding surfaces.
The stock is very similar to the T3x rifle’s one, so most of the accessories already available on the market can be mounted on it, such as the enlarged pistol grip. The single stage trigger is particularly well-finished in terms of weight and clean release.
The threaded, cold-hammer forged barrel has a semi-heavy profile representing a good compromise between accuracy and lightness. The Tikka T1x with 20 in / 510mm barrel weighs only 5.7 lbs / 2.6 Kg. There are no metal sights and the action is designed for mounting optics bases and rings.
The price of the Tikka T1x, which is already available in the US, is about 480 USD, or about 385 euro, excluding taxes.
